Buffalo State has licenses for many software applications including the titles listed here. Some applications are available for download to personal devices. Choose a title below for details.

Adobe Acrobat DC

With Acrobat DC you can view, create, manipulate, print and manage files in Portable Document Format (PDF).

  • Platforms: Windows, Mac 
  • On Campus Access: 
    • Lab (students): available in select computer labs including Study Quad and Quiet Quad in Butler Library.
    • Office use (faculty/staff): open a ticket to request access and select Adobe Acrobat DC from the drop-down.

Adobe Creative Cloud

Adobe Creative Cloud is a software as a service offering from Adobe Systems that gives users access to a collection of software developed by Adobe for graphic design, video editing, web development, photography, and cloud services.

    • Lab (students): available in select computer labs including Study Quad and Quiet Quad in Butler Library.
    • Office use (faculty/staff): open a ticket to request access and select Adobe Creative Cloud from the drop-down.

ArcGIS (by ESRI)

ArcGIS is the industry standard GIS software. Buffalo State holds a campus-wide site license. ArcGIS can be installed on any campus-owned computer, and is also available to install on personally owned devices.

Autodesk AutoCAD

Campus licensed application for 2D and 3D computer aided design (CAD) and drafting.

Mathematica (by Wolfram)

Mathematica is a symbolic mathematical computation program, sometimes called a computer algebra program, used in many scientific, engineering, mathematical, and computing fields.

MATLAB

MATLAB (matrix laboratory) is a multi-paradigm numerical computing environment and fourth-generation programming language. A proprietary programming language developed by MathWorks, MATLAB allows matrix manipulations, plotting of functions and data, implementation of algorithms, creation of user interfaces, and interfacing with programs written in other languages, including C, C++, Java, Fortran and Python.

Microsoft Office

Microsoft 365 is Microsoft’s productivity suite which includes Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Publisher, Access and OneNote. The suite is pre-installed on all campus-owned computers. Current Buffalo State faculty, staff and students can also download the Office suite on up to five (5) personal devices.

Minitab

Minitab®, originally intended as a tool for teaching statistics, is a general purpose statistical software package designed for easy interactive use. Minitab is well suited for instructional applications and is most popular as a teaching tool; however, it is also powerful enough to be used as a primary tool for analyzing research data. R

R is a programming language and software environment for statistical computing and graphics supported by the R Foundation for Statistical Computing. The R language is widely used among statisticians and data miners for developing statistical software and data analysis.

SAS

SAS (Statistical Analysis System) is a software suite developed by SAS Institute for advanced analytics, multivariate analyses, business intelligence, data management, and predictive analytics.

SolidWorks

SOLIDWORKS is the most widely used 3D CAD package in education and industry today. Learning SOLIDWORKS helps you rise above your peers by developing the design and engineering skills you need to be successful for the next step in your education, or when it is time to enter the job market.

SPSS (by IBM)

SPSS Statistics is a software package used for statistical analysis, survey authoring and deployment (IBM SPSS Data Collection), data mining (IBM SPSS Modeler), text analytics, and collaboration and deployment (batch and automated scoring services).
