ArcGIS is the industry standard GIS software. Buffalo State holds a campus-wide site license. ArcGIS can be installed on any campus-owned computer, and is also available to install on personally owned devices.

MATLAB (matrix laboratory) is a multi-paradigm numerical computing environment and fourth-generation programming language. A proprietary programming language developed by MathWorks, MATLAB allows matrix manipulations, plotting of functions and data, implementation of algorithms, creation of user interfaces, and interfacing with programs written in other languages, including C, C++, Java, Fortran and Python.
Microsoft 365 is Microsoft’s productivity suite which includes Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Publisher, Access and OneNote. The suite is pre-installed on all campus-owned computers. Current Buffalo State faculty, staff and students can also download the Office suite on up to five (5) personal devices.
Microsoft Azure Dev Tools for Teaching provides access to tools commonly used in science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM) programs. It gives teachers and students tools, software, and services from Microsoft that are used by professional developers and designers.
Minitab®, originally intended as a tool for teaching statistics, is a general purpose statistical software package designed for easy interactive use. Minitab is well suited for instructional applications and is most popular as a teaching tool; however, it is also powerful enough to be used as a primary tool for analyzing research data.
