This article walks new students through setting up their Network password and multi-factor authentication (MFA). We also have an account orientation video available at this link. Your Network username/password is the general sign-in for most campus systems including:

Step 1: Login to Banner
The first step is to login to your Banner account:
- Visit the student Banner page and click Log in to Banner.
- Enter your User ID and PIN, and click Login.
Step 2: Look up your Network username
The next step is to look up your Network username:
- Navigate to the Personal Information section and click Setup or Reset Student Network Password.
- Your network username is displayed at the top of the page.
Step 3: Create your Network password
From the same Setup or Reset Student Network Password page, the next step is to create a password to use for your account. Your new password must be at least 15 characters long, and is case sensitive.
- In the New Password box, enter a new password/passphrase (at least 15 characters long).
- In the Confirm New Password box, retype your new password/passphrase, click Submit.
- You should see a message confirming that your password has been reset.
Important! Please allow 15 minutes for your password to synchronize before proceeding to step 4 (or attempting to access the systems listed at the top of this page).
Step 4: Set up multi-factor authentication
Be sure to wait 15 minutes after performing step 2. Then, complete this final step to set up multi-factor authentication (MFA) for your account:
- Go to https://aka.ms/mysecurityinfo
- Enter your Buffalo State username followed by @buffalostate.edu and click Next.
- Follow the prompts to add your verification methods (e.g., cellphone, home phone, authenticator app).
