How do I locate the device name on my computer?

If you need to contact the IT Help Desk for assistance, you may be asked to provide the device name for your computer. All campus computers are given a unique computer name, and this name should appear on a label located somewhere on your computer.

The device name typically begins with "DN," followed by four numbers, and three more letters (which indicate what type of device it is). For example, a Windows desktop in an employee's office might look like this - "DN0123PDE" (where "P" refers to "PC," "D" refers to "Desktop," and "E" refers to an "Employee" computer).
