Accessing Brightspace on smart phones and tablets

The Brightspace companion app (called "Pulse") does not have full functionality compared to the Brightspace site in a web-browser. We strongly recommend using Brightspace through a supported web-browser when using a tablets or smart phone.

Accessing Brightspace on a Mobile Web Browser

  1. Open your preferred browser (officially supported browsers listed here).
  2. Go to the MYBUFFSTATE Students page from the Buffalo State home page (BuffaloState.edu > Quick Links menu> MYBUFFSTATE > Students).
  3. Scroll down until you see the Toolbox section, and choose the Brightspace link.

  4. Sign in to Brightspace with your Network credentials. Campus logins also require Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA)
  5. When looking for a current class, be sure to select the current semester (i.e. BUC - 24SP for Spring Semester 2024)
  6. From there, it should navigate similarly to the desktop version!

Bonus for Safari Users: Home Screen "app" shortcut

  1. After successfully signing into Brightspace on your Safari browser and viewing the main landing page, choose Safari's "Share" button (located below the URL bar at the bottom of the screen).

  2. Scroll down until you find "Add to Home Screen," and then choose it.

  3. You can rename it to "Brightspace" when prompted.
  4. It should now be on your Home Screen as an app! This acts as a simple shortcut to get into Brightspace without needing to navigate there each time.
