Request Captioning (Ensemble Video)

Service Description

o   IT staff will submit videos stored within Ensemble for captioning from a third-party captioning service (rev.com) for accessibility compliance at no cost to the faculty.

Standard Features

o   Submission of videos stored within Buffalo State’s Ensemble Media Server to rev.com for captioning

o   On-Demand Resources on Website

o   Collaborate with SUNT ITEC and rev.com for Support

Optional Features

o   Submission of video transcripts, glossaries, and speaker names for increased initial accuracy

o   Follow-up with rev.com for inaccurate captioning

Roles and Responsibilities

o   IT:

§  Place order with rev.com for captioning of requested video, along with any additional materials (requestor-provided transcript, glossary, speaker names, etc.)

§  Pay for service for class-related materials

§  Communication with requestor about submission and completion of captioning

§  Communication with rev.com, ITEC, and Ensemble regarding technical issues

o   Requestor:

§  Request for captioning through associated ticket

§  Verify accuracy of captioning

§  Edit captions using Amara

o   Rev.com

§  Provide captioning directly to Ensemble-hosted videos at accuracy rate of 99% or better within 24 hours for video files of 60 minutes or less

§  Communication with IT staff on completion of services

o   ITEC

§  Provide Ensemble application support and hosting

§  Notify service owner/team of maintenance window

§  Provide support for troubleshooting

Response and resolution times are based on operational hours (Monday through Friday from 8:00AM to 5:00PM).

Please Note: Response Time is measured from ticket submission date/time until the ticket is moved to an 'In Process' status. Resolution Time is measured from ticket submission date/time until the ticket is completed/resolved.

Service Pricing

There are no costs to faculty associated with this service. Potential costs for use of this service for non-class-related videos will be quoted at the time of request.
