Job Description

Information Technology provides technical assistance on campus and several teams within IT hire student employees. Our student employees provide technical assistance to students, faculty, and staff in a number of areas including:

  • Password/Login Issues
  • Banner (Self-Service & Admin)
  • Classroom AV Issues
  • E-mail
  • Hardware & Software
  • Network Connectivity
  • Printing
  • Windows and Mac

Essential Responsibilities

  • Assist students, faculty and staff (via phone and in person) with a variety of technical issues
  • Assist with the installation of software and hardware
  • Assist with AV issues in smart classrooms
  • Troubleshoot and resolve hardware, software, login and network issues
  • Open tickets using TeamDynamix (ticketing application)
  • Follow up with, resolve, reassign and close tickets as needed
  • Perform other office related tasks as needed

Required Qualifications

  • Currently enrolled in classes at Buffalo State
  • Excellent customer service and communication skills
  • Excellent problem solving, troubleshooting and research skills
  • Experience with Buffalo State’s online services and systems

Preferred Qualifications

  • Past work experience in a high-traffic customer service setting
  • Functional knowledge of Windows and Mac operating systems
  • Functional knowledge of Microsoft Office applications
  • Functional knowledge of iOS and Android devices
  • Functional knowledge of Google Apps (Drive, Gmail, Sites and Calendar)
  • Functional knowledge of presentation hardware, projectors, laptops and other display and audio devices

Hours and Compensation

Student employees are expected to work a minimum of 8 hours per week; the maximum number of hours a student can work per week is 29. The starting pay rate is $15.00 per hour.
