Job Description
Information Technology provides technical assistance on campus and several teams within IT hire student employees. Our student employees provide technical assistance to students, faculty, and staff in a number of areas including:
- Password/Login Issues
- Banner (Self-Service & Admin)
- Classroom AV Issues
- E-mail
- Hardware & Software
- Network Connectivity
- Printing
- Windows and Mac
Essential Responsibilities
- Assist students, faculty and staff (via phone and in person) with a variety of technical issues
- Assist with the installation of software and hardware
- Assist with AV issues in smart classrooms
- Troubleshoot and resolve hardware, software, login and network issues
- Open tickets using TeamDynamix (ticketing application)
- Follow up with, resolve, reassign and close tickets as needed
- Perform other office related tasks as needed
Required Qualifications
- Currently enrolled in classes at Buffalo State
- Excellent customer service and communication skills
- Excellent problem solving, troubleshooting and research skills
- Experience with Buffalo State’s online services and systems
Preferred Qualifications
- Past work experience in a high-traffic customer service setting
- Functional knowledge of Windows and Mac operating systems
- Functional knowledge of Microsoft Office applications
- Functional knowledge of iOS and Android devices
- Functional knowledge of Google Apps (Drive, Gmail, Sites and Calendar)
- Functional knowledge of presentation hardware, projectors, laptops and other display and audio devices
Hours and Compensation
Student employees are expected to work a minimum of 8 hours per week; the maximum number of hours a student can work per week is 29. The starting pay rate is $15.00 per hour.
