One of the newest USB connectors designed for the USB3 specification, USB type C, supports additional functionality that includes high-speed charging and video output.
Classroom Support is starting to roll out USB-C connectivity in newly installed classrooms. These rooms will contain a USB-C cable that can be used to charge devices. In addition, supported devices will be able to output video over the same cable. Not all USB-C devices will output video through this port.
Some examples of supported devices include: most newer HP and Dell laptops, newer MacBooks, newer iPads, and a small (but growing) subset of mobile phones.
If you aren't sure if your device supports this video output mode, check to see if the DisplayPort logo is next to the port.
