How to fix incorrect color display on PC (caused by Chrome)

If Windows is displaying colors incorrectly (usually inverted or phase shifted) this may be caused by Google Chrome.

Google Chrome has a bug which causes display issues when going full-screen and then exiting. This will only happen on certain PCs with certain video cards.

There are a few fixes:

  1. Log off Windows and log back in
  2. Restart the PC
  3. Try switching to another display resolution, then back to the original one
  4. Toggle to another display mode and then back to the original

The fix for this issue is to disable hardware acceleration in Chrome. (Menu -> Settings -> Advanced -> [disable] Use Hardware Acceleration When Available)

However, this fix only applies per user per machine. Meaning- if you fix it on one machine, this does not fix it on another.
