How to Make Text Larger in Windows

By default, Windows scales text to fit the resolution displayed on your monitor(s). Should you desire to make this text larger, follow these steps.

  1. Open Settings
  2. In the search bar at the top, type in "scaling."

  3. Select "Change the size of text, apps, and other items"
  4. In the following menu (titled Display) scroll down to the "Scale and layout" options.

  5. If you are unable to click on the tab to change the scaling, click on the "custom scaling" text below it.
  6. In the custom scaling menu, enter your desired display size. Most users start by trying "125" for 125% magnification.

  7. After you have entered the value, click "Apply."
  8. Windows will show a message informing you that you must sign out for the new settings to take effect. Please sign out.
  9. Sign back in to test your new settings. If you wish to change the text again, repeat this from step 1.
