Import Gmail calendar to Outlook

If you have calendar events saved in Gmail that you want to copy to your Microsoft 365 (Outlook) calendar, you can follow the steps below. Please note: these steps will need to be performed from a computer; you will not be able to export your Gmail calendar using the Gmail app on your phone.

  1. Open a web browser and sign-in to your Gmail account.
  2. Click the Google apps button and select Calendar.

  1. Under My calendars, select the calendar you want to export. Point to the calendar, click the three vertical dots and select Settings and sharing.

  1. Under Calendar settings, click Export calendar.

  1. This will download a zip file to your computer named "<username>@mail.buffalostate.edu.ical.zip." Note the download location so you can select the file and unzip it.

  1. Navigate to the download location so you can unzip ("extract") the zip file. To do this, double click the zip file and then choose Extract all from the toolbar.

  1. Open a new browser tab, sign-in to your Outlook account and click the Calendar icon to open your Outlook calendar.

  1. Click Add calendar from the left navigation panel.

  1. Click Upload from file. Next, click Browse and select the "<username>@mail.buffalostate.edu.ics" file (that you downloaded in the previous step).

  1. Select Calendar from the drop-down and then click the Import button to start the import process.
