Multi-Factor Authentication Now Required

Faculty, staff and students are required to use multi-factor authentication (MFA) to access campus and SUNY websites. This extra "check-in" for unrecognized login attempts helps counteract the dangers of things like phishing scams.

Some important notes/reminders about MFA:

  • You can add/update your verification methods at any time by visiting
  • You can, and should, add at least two verification methods (e.g. your cell phone, office phone, authenticator app).
  • We strongly recommend setting up the Microsoft Authenticator app as one of your verification methods. It makes the MFA verification process seamless (and can even be used even when you don't have cell or WiFi service).
  • If you don't own a cell phone to use with MFA, you can request an MFA hardware token (faculty/staff only)
If you have questions about multi-factor authentication, please review the MFA frequently asked questions page. You can also open a Technology Help ticket and select “Multi-Factor Authentication” from the drop-down menu labeled, “I need help with.” You can also email the IT Help Desk at
