OneDrive can be accessed from any device, on or off campus. This step-by-step guide explains how to setup the OneDrive app on a personal Windows 10 or Windows 11 device.
Step-By-Step Guide
- Click Start and type onedrive in the search box.
- Select the OneDrive app from the list.
- Enter your Buffalo State username followed by @buffalostate.edu and click Sign in.
- Again, enter your Buffalo State username followed by @buffalostate.edu and click Sign in.
- Leave the default folder location as is and click Next.
Warning! Be careful on the Back up your folders screen. If you leave Desktop, Documents and Pictures selected, these folders on your home PC will be synced to OneDrive. If you don't want these folders to sync to OneDrive, be sure to deselect them before proceeding. Learn more.
- Proceed through the remaining prompts by choosing Next/Continue.
- At the end of the Getting to know your OneDrive tutorial, click Open my OneDrive folder.
- You can now access any of the files and folders you have in OneDrive directly from your computer (File Explorer). Find out what the different OneDrive status icons mean.
- You will also see a OneDrive icon in the system tray (near the date/time). Click this icon any time you want to view the sync status of your OneDrive. This is also an easy way to open your OneDrive folder.
