If you are using the overhead to write out content:
Example applications: Math or science formulae, language practice, drawing diagrams
Use paper under a document camera:
Centrally-scheduled classrooms on campus are equipped with document cameras. Think of these cameras as “opaque” projectors. They will project any items placed underneath them.
Added benefits: You can ZOOM in further than an overhead!
Use a SMART Board:
Generally-scheduled classrooms equipped with SMART Boards are listed here.
SMART Boards (and SMART monitors) allow you to write and annotate on the projection surface with a special pen.
Added benefits: You can SAVE your writing in a digital format, for emailing or posting to your LMS site.
If you are using the overhead to display pre-printed sheets:
Example applications: Pre-printed diagrams
Place the sheets under a document camera:
Centrally-scheduled classrooms on campus are equipped with document cameras. Think of these cameras as “opaque” projectors. They will project any items placed underneath them. If displaying a transparent sheet, use a piece of white paper as a backing to make it stand out!
Added benefits: You can ZOOM in further than an overhead!
Rebuild your material as a Powerpoint Presentation:
Standard equipment in centrally-scheduled classrooms includes a digital projector and computer with Microsoft Powerpoint included. You can log on to these machines with your Buffalo State account and project your Powerpoint file.
Added benefits:
Always have a digital copy of your presentation!
Easier to revise and update.
Can be distributed to students, if desired.
When used with a SMART Board (see above), can be annotated on!
