If you are encountering issues with PowerPoint not responding to clicker/keyboard commands, freezing, or being generally unstable- disabling hardware acceleration may help.

  1. Open PowerPoint
  2. If you have a project open, click "File." If not, skip to step 3.
  3. Click "options" in the lower left corner.
  4. In the left pane of the window that pops up, click "advanced."
  5. In the right pane of the window, scroll down under the "display" subheading.
  6. Check the boxes that say "Disable hardware graphics acceleration" and "Disable Slide Show hardware graphics acceleration."
  7. Click "OK" at the bottom of the window.
