Summary

Read & Write will convert a PDF document back to text (Word).

Body

Scanned image documents can be converted to readable format using Read&Write software which is available on all campus supported computers.

1. Open Read & Write
2. Set these Options under the scan menu (Scan to Word or PDF)
3. Click on the scanner image within the RWG Toolbar to open the file that needs to be converted
4. Locate & select the file you need to convert to accessible format
5. Once you select the file and Select "Open" the following dialog box will pop up:
6. Click Scan to start the scanning process.
7. Select your location and rename the file on the "Save As" pop-up and click save
8. Make any appropriate changes to the document according to the accessibility checklist
9. Save Document as Word or PFD.

NOTE: Not all scanned fines will convert accurately. Documents may need to be recreated or editted to ensure accessibility. For example: Handwritten documents will not convert.
