Body
A Question Library in Brightspace allows instructors to create a section (folder) of quiz questions from which a specified number of questions are randomly pulled into a quiz for each student. An example of this would be a section containing 25 questions, from which 10 questions are pulled randomly into the quiz for each student.
Create a Section
A section allows you to organize your quiz questions in folders. For example, if you want to create a pool of questions that might be used on Quiz 1, you can create a Quiz 1 Section that contains all possible Quiz 1 questions.
- From the course navigation bar, click Course Activities and select Quizzes.
- Click the Question Library tab.
- Click New and select Section from the drop-down.
- Name the section, review the remaining options, and click Save when finished.
- Click the name of the section/folder you just created to open it.
- Click New and select the first question type you would like to add from the drop-down. Create the question, save, and repeat this step to create additional questions for this section.
- PLEASE NOTE: If you have already created these questions in a quiz, click Import and select Browse Existing Questions to select the questions and add them to this section.
- If you want students to be able to add media, including files, video notes, or embedded content in their responses, select Enable HTML Editor for learner responses and/or Allow learners to insert images and add attachments, depending on your needs.
- Once all the questions have been created and/or imported for this section, click Done Editing Questions. Repeat these steps to create additional sections as desired.
Create a Question Pool
- Click New Quiz and enter a title for the quiz.
- Click Create New and select Question Pool.
- Name the question pool and click Browse Question Library.
- Select the section/folder you previously created and then click Import.
- Enter the number of questions you would like to appear on the quiz out of the number you previously created in the section/folder (ex. 15 questions out of 35 questions created). Then enter the number of points each question will be worth.
- Click Save when finished.
- Repeat these steps to add any additional questions or question pools to the quiz.
