Body

Buffalo State's Turnitin integration with Blackboard Learn has been upgraded from Direct v2.5 to LTI 1.3 (Turnitin Feedback Studio Assignments). Our previous version of Turnitin (Direct v2.5) is no longer supported. Any existing Turnitin assignments will continue to work through the summer term.

After 5:00pm on August 29, 2022 any existing Turnitin Direct v2.5 assignments will need to be recreated.

If you have used Turnitin within your Blackboard Learn courses, please be aware of the following timeline and action items.

Prior to Fall 2022 Semester

  • Existing Turnitin Direct v2.5 assignments will continue to work for students and instructors.
  • Instructors should copy any assignment instructions or descriptions added to Turnitin Direct v2.5 assignments and save these in a Word document on your computer or in your OneDrive.
  • Instructors will need to use an updated process to create new Turnitin Feedback Studio assignments within courses.
  • Any Turnitin Rubrics and QuickMarks will still be accessible.

After 5:00pm on August 29, 2022

Key Feature Changes

Due to the integration upgrade, several new and modified Turnitin features will be made available to instructors and students:

  • Turnitin Feedback Studio assignments can be created from the Build Content button within any Blackboard Learn course content area (formerly available under the Assessments tab).
  • An updated assignment setup interface with improved labelling of settings (i.e. "Post Date" will be renamed "Feedback release date").
  • Assignment inbox includes more information and provides the ability to filter to see only student assignments that still need grading.
  • Academic integrity flags for hidden text and replace characters will be displayed in the assignment inbox.
  • Student submission receipts are no loner sent via email, however students are prompted to download a receipt upon submission. Digital receipts are also displayed in the assignment inbox for instructors and can be downloaded by students.
  • An updated student assignment upload interface that is clearer and more intuitive.

For more information and to have your questions answered, please attend Turnitin SUNY-specific office hours, every Friday from 12-2PM EST.
