Filter your Student List

In the Bengal Success Portal, the student list can be filtered in several ways.

Adding Filters

Filter by Connection

Students can be filtered by the connection that you have with them.

  1. In the Bengal Success Portal, click on the menu.

  2. Click on Students.
  3. Under Connection, click on the dropdown menu.

  4. Select the connection you want to filter your view by.

Filter by Term

Students can be filtered by the term.

  1. In the Bengal Success Portal, click on the menu.

  2. Click on Students.
  3. Click on the My Students tab.
  4. Under Term, click on the dropdown menu.

  5. Select the term you want to filter your view by.

Additional Filters

There are other ways to filter your list of students using the Additional Filters feature. Note that any filters added via the Add Filters button will apply until they are cleared. When you need to clear a filter, click on the X next to the Edit Filters button.

  1. In the Bengal Success Portal, click on the menu.

  2. Click on Students.
  3. Click on the My Students tab.
  4. Click on Add Filters.

  5. Using the menu, choose to filter by Tracking Items, Cohorts and Relationships, Meetings, or Attributes.

Filter by Tracking Items

  1. After clicking on Add Filters, click on the Tracking Items tab.

  2. Click Students with Tracking Items.
  3. Use the additional dropdown menus to specify what tracking items you would like to filter by.
  4. Click Submit when finished.

Filter by Cohorts & Relationships

  1. After clicking on Add Filters, click on the Cohorts & Relationships tab.

  2. Use the additional dropdown menus to specify the Term, Connection, Section(s), and Organization(s) you would like to filter by.
  3. Click Submit when finished.

Filter by Meetings

  1. After clicking on Add Filters, click on the Meetings tab.

  2. Click Students.
  3. Specify either students Who have had/scheduled meetings or Who have not had/scheduled meetings.
  4. If desired, use the Appointment Type/Reason dropdown to select a reason.
  5. If desired, specify the Start and End dates.
  6. Click Submit when finished.

Filter by Attributes

Several attributes, such as Low Midterm Grade, Cumulative GPA, and Major, can be used to filter your list of students.

  1. After clicking on Add Filters, click on the Attributes tab.

  2. Click Add Attribute.
  3. Use the Attribute drop down menu to select the attribute you want to filter by. Attributes include:
    1. Class Level
      1. Select either Value = FR, SO, JR, SR, or GR
    2. Cumulative GPA
    3. Honors
      1. Select Value = 'Assigned to Student' for both DHP and HON combined
      2. Select either Value = DHP or HON
    4. Low Mid-term Grade
      1. Select Value = 'Assigned to Student' 
    5. Major
      1. Select Value = *[XXX]* where XXX is the Major code (or XXXW for Pre-major codes).  Since Major can include more than one major codes, the asterisks * and brackets [] are needed surrounding the major code to filter correctly.

    6. Minor
      1. Select Value = *[XXX]* where XXX is the Minor code.  Since Minor can include more than one minor code, the asterisks * and brackets [] are needed surrounding the minor code to filter correctly. 
    7. Probation
      1. Select Value = 'Assigned to Student' 
    8. Registered for Fall
      1. Select Value = 'Assigned to Student' 
    9. Registered for Spring
      1. Select Value = 'Assigned to Student' 
    10. Registered for Summer
      1. Select Value = 'Assigned to Student' 
    11. Registered for J-Term 
      1. Select Value = 'Assigned to Student' 
  4. NOTE: When filtering by any attribute, please do not select any term from the "Term" drop down. Attributes are non-term-based attributes and the search will only work when either blank, or select "No Term" or "All".
  5. Use the Value items to further specify your attribute.
  6. Click Submit when finished.
