How to Import a Course Package into Blackboard

This feature can be used to import OER content into your Blackboard course.

If you are copying a course from a previous semester, use the Course Copy feature instead of exporting and importing.

  1. On the Control Panel of the new course, expand the Packages and Utilities section and select Import Package/View Logs.
  2. Click Import Package.
  3. Within the Select a Package area, click Browse My Computer and navigate to the Downloads folder where the exported zipped file was saved.
  4. Within the Select Course Materials area, click Select All.
  5. Click Submit.

Mac Import Issue

Using a Mac to import the file may result in the inability to attach the zipped file. The zipped file just opens up into another folder. You are most likely using the Safari browser. The workaround is to use one of the certified browsers - Google Chrome or Firefox. This should resolve your issue.

If you continue to use Safari, try this workaround:

Go into Safari and edit the General preferences. Uncheck the Open “safe” files after downloading. This will keep the Blackboard files zipped. Using Google Chrome as your default browser is recommended since Chrome keeps the files zipped by default and is one of the certified browsers by Blackboard.

Mac General settings. Select Open 'safe" files after downloading at the bottom of the options.
