Export Your Blackboard Course

This procedure allows instructors to export their course to save a copy outside of Blackboard Learn. Export files should remain as .zip files -do not extract them.

Export Your Course

  1. Log into the Buffalo State Blackboard Learn environment https://buffalostate.open.suny.edu/
  2. Click on the name of the course you wish to export in the My Courses module. 
  3. In the Control Panel, click Packages and Utilities.
  4. Click Export/Archive Course.

  6. In the Select Course Materials section, click Select All.

  7. Click Submit.
  8. You will receive an email when the course is finished exporting.
  9. After you receive the email confirmation, click the Refresh button in the Blackboard Export/Archive Course page.

  10. Click the link for the package you want to download.
  11. The file will be downloaded as a zipped file and saved to your Downloads folder by default and can be saved in your personal storage.



Mac Import Issue

Using a Mac to import the file may result in the inability to attach the zipped file. The zipped file just opens up into another folder. You are most likely using the Safari browser. The workaround is to use one of the certified browsers - Google Chrome or Firefox. This should resolve your issue.

If you continue to use Safari, try this workaround:

Go into Safari and edit the General preferences. Uncheck the Open “safe” files after downloading. This will keep the Blackboard files zipped. Using Google Chrome as your default browser is recommended since Chrome keeps the files zipped by default and is one of the certified browsers by Blackboard.
