Configure Remote Desktop on your home PC

Please Note: Before using Remote Desktop, you must open a ticket requesting access AND complete a short training session (either in-person or online).

If you have requested Remote Computer Access and have completed training (in-person or online), follow these steps on your home PC to configure your Remote Desktop connection:

  1. Open Remote Desktop Connection by clicking the Start button. In the search box, type Remote Desktop Connection, and then, in the list of results, click Remote Desktop Connection.
  2. Click Show Options, click the Advanced tab, and then click Settings under Connect from anywhere.

  1. On the RD Gateway Server Settings screen, enter the settings exactly as they appear below:

COVID-19 Update: Students in classes that are using Remote Desktop during the Spring 2020 semester should use the address RDPGW.BUFFALOSTATE.EDU for the gateway server name instead of the address pictured above (BSCRD.BUFFALOSTATE.EDU).

  1. Click OK, and then return to the General tab.
  2. In the Computer box, enter the device name of your campus PC.
  3. Enter bsclogon\ followed by your Buffalo State username in the User name field.

  1. Click the Save button to save the RD Gateway configuration settings.
  2. Click Connect and enter your Buffalo State password when prompted.
  3. If you receive a message like the one below, check the Don’t ask me again for connections to this computer box and click Connect.
