Our Blackboard Learn Environment will be upgrading to Q4 2020, CU6 (3900.6), while also incorporating updates and bug fixes from Q4 2020 and Q4 2019.

Updated Version of Java 11

This update has an impact on technology integrations and certain functionality in Blackboard Learn. The Instructional Design and Distance Learning team has reviewed and contacted 3rd party vendors ( i.e Cengage, Pearson, McGraw-Hill, EvaluationKIT, etc.) to ensure the most up-to-date version is integrated within our system. The following technology integrations will no longer be available within our system after the upgrade:

  • Qwickly Tools & Jot Assignment (Alternative options to be communicated.)
  • My Messages Module on Home Page (My Messages will still be viewable within the course.)
  • Cengage WebAssign Legacy Version (after August 23). Faculty who utilize Cengage products should contact their rep to ensure they are utilizing the most up to date textbook/e-book content.

After this upgrade, if you experience any issues with your 3rd party integrations, please contact us via the 3rd Party Integration Ticket

New Features and Enhancements

  • Content Editor Enhancements - simple layout with an accessibility checker and easy copy and paste functionality from outside sources

new html editor with accessibility checker

  • Increased authentication security - User's account will lock after 5 failed login attempts to protect from unauthorized access.
  • Improvements to LTI Advantage (3rd Party tools such as Cengage, Pearson, McGraw-Hill) Instructors can see which students have submitted and whether grading has started. Students will have more accurate due and overdue notifications in Blackboard from the integrated 3rd party tools.
  • Course copy, archive, and restore improvements - The process has been improved to decrease the amount of time it takes to create copies, exports, and archives. Additionally, the archive and restore process now includes user data for dropped students, preserving a comprehensive picture of user activity.
